Although this year has started a bit hectic with new covid variants and long lines to get our booster shots we know this will soon be coming to an end. After 2 years we finally start gaining our hopes back and suitcases ready for action! So, if traveling is on the top of your priorities list this year then stick around because we have prepared the 10 coolest travel destinations for 2022, along with activity ideas and what’s new in tourism for each of these cities…

London, United Kingdom

London will be in quite a festive mood this year celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Many events will be held to honor Britain’s longest-serving monarch, including a long weekend party and street carnival at the beginning of June. So if you’ve ever wanted to visit the UK, 2022 is the perfect moment to do so!

Riviera Maya, Mexico

It is no doubt that Mexico’s popularity as a travel destination has been increasing over the years, especially since they decided to never close their borders during the pandemic. Their visitor numbers have doubled since 2019 and therefore, this 2022 a new round of hotels will be opening in Tulum and Riviera Maya. Get your sunscreen and towels ready to enjoy the beach!

Bodrum, Turkey

Are you maybe looking for a beach vacation closer to Europe? Then Bodrum is the place for you! It is one of the hottest up-and-coming destinations and has a bunch of new luxury hotels opening soon. Don’t miss it!

Japan

Japan’s strong pandemic response positions it to be one of the best places to travel abroad in 2022 (once it reopens its borders of course). Its stunning cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, and gorgeous rural areas such as Kamikochi, Hakone, and Yakushima, there is surely something in Japan for everyone.

Bahamas

We already know this is probably on most Americans’ bucket list already, but this year there’s one more reason to visit the Bahamas. Baha Mar on the Island of New Providence has opened a new water park for its visitors and during April and May, Nassau will be celebrating their famous carnival for the first time after the pandemic!

Burgundy, France

In the spring, the region’s capital city of Dijon will welcome the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin (International City of Gastronomy and Wine), an expansive complex with a cooking school, a new hotel, a handful of restaurants, and a wine cellar with over 250 by-the-glass offerings. The new project is perfectly situated at the starting point of Burgundy’s famed wine route — Route des Grands Crus — which runs from Dijon to Santenay and produces some of the country’s most well-regarded wines, including pinot noir, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc. Not to miss!

Walt Disney World

If you’re a star wars fan, then this destination should be on your list! Walt Disney World’s 18-month-long 50th anniversary event that kicked off in October of last year, continues through 2022 with highly anticipated ride and hotel openings. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will begin offering its immersive, two-night adventures in a galaxy far, far away on March 1. The interactive, choose-your-own-adventure experience will have guests wielding lightsabers, sleeping on the ship, brushing shoulders with Star Wars characters, eating intergalactic cuisine, and maybe even going on a secret mission! Other 2022 openings include the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind indoor coaster at Epcot, expected during the summer.

Langkawi, Malaysia

Good news! To everyone who has had Malaysia on their bucketlist…the island of Langkawi is open via a travel bubble, with the rest of the country expected to follow during 2022! Langkawi, is a beach lover’s paradise, blends unspoiled nature and unparalleled luxury, while cosmopolitan capital Kuala Lumpur draws visitors with its gleaming Petronas Towers, delicious hawker food stalls, and of course, shopping!

Oslo, Norway

Let’s take a break from beach destinations and get cultural for a bit. In June 2022, their new National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design will open, it is estimated that it will showcase around 5,000 items, including works from Edvard Munch like ‘The Scream’.

Cairo, Egypt

Calling all history and archeology enthusiasts! The Grand Egyptian Museum is set to become the largest archeological museum in the world after its anticipated opening later this year in November. So if you want to be one of the firsts to visit it, it’s time to start planning your trip!
