Easter Sunday is a hit in New Orleans; they pull out all the stops for this special holiday. Make sure you take to the streets by 10 AM, when the oldest Easter parade, the Historic French Quarter parade, starts. This traditional event began in 1956 and goes from Antoine’s to Jackson Square, including a quick stop for mass at the St. Louis Cathedral. There will be women in fancy-dress throwing candy and beads from carriages. Look forward to a lot of such spectacles for the whole day; a good many eggs and candies are waiting to be caught.
